- (Spanish) This is the Peruvian version of Google, the number one search engine in the world (which is also used by AOL and Excite, for example). Its design is real simple and fast to download to your computer. Sometime in the last few months, Google Peru also added a new feature to is search engine, that is, now visitors have the option of finding websites from Peru only (by clicking in the radio bottom "PÃ¡ginas de PerÃº"). - (Spanish) Terra.com.pe is the Peruvian website of Terra Lycos, a mega portal with more than 27 millions of monthly visits. This local version of Terra has all the main features a mayor portal usually have; including, chat rooms, weather, astrology, postcards, etc. Lately (July, 04), we noticed that in addition to its worldwide search engine, Terra has also installed a new feature to its search engine. Now this portal has the ability to search websites that are from Peru only. In other words, the visitor has now the option to search sites with the country extension â€œ.pe,â€ which stands for Peruvian sites. However, Terra's search engine is actually powered by Google, unlike PeruLinks.com where we use our own search engine database and Google as a back up (if you don't find what you were looking for).

Yachay - Peruvian Scientific Network - [ Archive ] [ Sp>En ]
- (Spanish) Yachay was once the best-known directory and search engine of Peru, but in the last couple of years many other portals and search engines have showed up with better technologies and more dedicated administrators, so its leadership has seriously lagged behind as a competent search engine. However, Yachay still has the support of the RCP (short for what in Spanish means the Scientific Network of Peru), and some of its features are still very competent: Its lists and groups (Listas) sections, for example, contain relevant information about the development of the Internet in the country.

- (Spanish) Originally known as Todas Las PÃ¡ginas del PerÃº, or All the Sites from Peru, Adonde was one of the first directories that appeared in the Web. Its author, Eduardo DÃ¡vila Andrade, was motivated to create this site when he was in Manaus, Brazil. At that time he was just trying to figure out a way to maintain contact with all his fellow Peruvian countrymen. Although a few of this siteâ€™s links need to be updated, Adonde was and still is one of the most complete directories of the country (that was a very conservative statement because we honestly believe it's the most complete in Peru). Itâ€™s local news section is also a great feature of this site; a section that is usually kept fairly updated, and it's therefore appreciated by many of us who donâ€™t live in the country.

- (Spanish) Acceso Peru can not only claim of being the first search engine of Peru, but it could also boast of being one of the most complete directories of the country. However, not all the sites registered here are exclusively Peruvian. Under the leadership of Carlos ChÃ¡vez Toro, this site now offers Web site hosting and design too. Acceso also publishes daily local and international news, a gallery of MP3s, post cards and a section called "Sabueso," which is a personal classified service to find romance or friendship. The main problem we noticed about this site during our last review is that too many of their links were dead. That is, they need to spend more time in the maintenance of their directory section. Also, the site's use of many graphics in the main page delayed unnecessarily the presentation of the site. Address: Recavarren 133 Miraflores, Lima (Phone: 242-2830 / 3833).

Oh Peru - [ Archive ] [ Sp>En ]
- (Spanish) Oh PerÃº is a very small portal compared to the others in Peru, but it's also one of the fastest-growing Web portals in the country (according to their own statistics). The site deserves credit for having a good number of links to Peruvian sites. Its page design is also simple but very effective. Donâ€™t forget to visit the section "The Girl of the Month," another plus. However, Oh PerÃº doesn't really have its own search engine (the one they have is really operated by atomz.com), and even in their directory, which is of original content, they don't describe the sites they list. That's an extra service that will cost you US $60.00 a year (maximum 25 words). At least that's what they charged during the time of our visit in 2003.
